In a fantastic, high-scoring match at the Crown, the home side just came out on top against the Teachers.
Batting first the nine men of the Crown got off to a flyer with Dave Gurney, Louis Lynch, Ross Spreadborough and Jonny Comfort all retiring. After a few wickets fell Comfort returned to the crease to smash his way to 98 not out with 6 sixes and 12 fours. The final total of 253 looked daunting.
However the Teachers responded with some ferocious batting of their own through Nelson, Hellier and Boast. At the half way stage they were on 127 for 1. However the introduction of Dave Gurney to the attack slowed the rate down and in the end the visitors reached a commendable 202 for 3.
